Hey Great Wilkins Residents!

My name is Matt and I am the Accommodation Manager at Great Wilkins Halls of Residence.

I work closely with my assistant amanager and our fabulous team of maintenance and housekeepers. We’re employed by Sanctuary Students who manage the building on behalf of the University.

We’re always here ready to help you with any concerns that you may have during your stay. If we don’t know the answer, we know who will!

We are so looking forward to meeting you!

Our Residential Life team at Great Wilkins are here to support you during your time with us, and to create a friendly positive and inclusive environment for you to live in. We know that it may be easier to talk to a fellow student than a member of staff, so each flat is assigned an upper-year Student Residential Advisor (SRA), who will live and work in the accommodation and check in with you regularly throughout the year to say hello. Flat and individual meetings will take place virtually using Microsoft Teams.

The SRAs organise and deliver social events where there’s an opportunity for you to build genuine friendships and have fun. We hope that you will experience a real sense of belonging and that you will quickly feel at home.

You can contact an SRA about any concerns you might have, no matter how big or small. It could be a general question about university, or perhaps a flatmate dispute. You might be concerned about someone you live with, or maybe you are feeling homesick and just want someone to talk to. If an SRA is unable to help you, they will know someone who can.

Watch the video below to meet the team or click here for more information.

A guide to residential life will be waiting in your room when you arrive.

Public Transport

The Falmer campus bus stop can be found at the top of campus, a short walk up the hill from your halls.

The 25 and 23 buses run here to Moulsecoomb and the City Centre along the Lewes Road, and 5B to Varley Park and ASDA supermarket in Hollingbury. A number of other buses serve the route along the Lewes Road to the city centre, but don’t come onto campus - you can catch these from the bus stops on the Lewes Road, just a 10-15 minute walk away.

For buying bus tickets, checking routes and planning your journey use Brighton & Hove’s ‘M ticket’ app, you can also buy a student ticket with a valid student ID. You will need to verify your student status on the B&H Buses app.

Falmer train station is around a 10 minute walk from your halls, where you can catch trains into Moulsecoomb, Brighton and to Lewes, Eastbourne, Hastings and Ore, with connections to London from Brighton or Lewes.

Walking and cycling

Walking and cycling is a great way to cut carbon, save yourself some money, and keep fit. We have walking and cycling facilities across all campuses, including bike stands and external bike pumps. We also have Brighton's Beryl bikes on all our Brighton campuses - so you can enjoy getting between the campuses and around the city by bike.

View all campus facilities, including the Beryl Bikes locations, on our walking and cycling interative map.
