Waste and Recycling
The University is working hard to reduce our waste and increase recycling with a target to achieve a 60% recycling rate by December 2025. To help us achieve this, waste and recycling has been made easy for students living in halls. Students simply need to separate their waste into four categories: general, paper and cardboard, plastics and glass. *
Moving Out – Reuse Project
To make it easy for students to move out of halls at the end of the academic year the University runs the Reuse Project; encouraging students to donate their unwanted items to the British Heart Foundation by leaving them in a designated area in their halls. This prevents students throwing away items that can be reused, reducing their impact on the environment when they move out and help raise money for life saving research.
* Mithras Halls – addition of food waste.
